The Ojai Raptor Center is a fully functional and permitted wildlife rehabilitation center, specializing in birds of prey. Every year we take in 500-1000 sick, injured or orphaned birds (including many non-raptor birds, and a small percentage of mammals) with the hopes of rehabilitating them and releasing them back to the wild. Avian and Mammals not native to the Ojai area are treated for injuries and then transported to their native areas for further care and treatment. The Ojai Raptor Center currently is home to Barred Owls, Screech Owls, Barn Owls, Great Horned Owls, Burrowing Owls, Red Tailed Hawks, Red-shouldered Hawks, Mississippi Kite, American Kestrel Falcon, Peregrine Falcon, Merlin Falcon, Prairie Falcon, Golden Eagle, and the Turkey Vulture.
I began photography in the late 1940s when I receive a gift of a Kodak Brownie Box camera. Since that day I have been very interested in capturing as much artistic imagery as possible. I have moved up from the 120 by 120 B&W film to a Yashica, Single Lens Rangefinder 35mm, and Kodak color transparency film. My next acquisition was in the early 1980s with an Olympus OM-4, 35mm Single Lens Reflex camera and several accessory lens attachments. I also purchased my first chemical darkroom and equipment to print all my images. I was a big user of Kodak Kodacolor, and Kodak Ektachrome. Hello Danielle, Thank you for your comments. Here in Southern Calif. we have a Raptor Rescue Center and when the birds are well enough for the public we can photograph them twice a year.
